  3. On installation, ufw is not automatically enabled. To load the firewall and
  4. enable it on boot, run:
  5.  
  6. # ufw enable
  7.  
  8. See 'man ufw' and README for more information.

  11. Upgrading
  12. ---------
  13. It is important to note that to properly support remote users, the firewall
  14. will not be automatically restarted during upgrades. After an upgrade, either
  15. reboot or perform:
  16.  
  17. # /etc/init.d/ufw restart
  18.  
  19. Please note that the above command will briefly open the firewall before
  20. reloading the rules.

  23. Preseeding
  24. ----------
  25. ufw has support for preseeding. To enable a default deny firewall, add to your
  26. preseed file:
  27. ufw ufw/enable boolean true
  28.  
  29. And to allow a service, use:
  30. ufw ufw/allow_known_ports multiselect SSH, WWW
  31.  
  32. Currently, ufw knows about the following services:
  33.  Cups        # tcp and udp port 631
  34.  DNS        # tcp and udp port 53
  35.  Imap (Secure)    # tcp port 993
  36.  Pop3 (Secure)    # tcp port 995
  37.  SSH        # tcp port 22
  38.  Samba        # udp ports 137, 138 and tcp ports 139, 445
  39.  Smtp        # tcp port 25
  40.  WWW        # tcp port 80
  41.  WWW (Secure)    # tcp port 443
  42.  
  43. You may also add additional ports by supplying a space separated list of
  44. services from /etc/services, a port number or a port/protocol combination. Eg:
  45. ufw ufw/allow_custom_ports string auth 8080 1194/udp 
  46.  
  47. Please keep in mind that these ports and services are not associated with ufw
  48. application profiles.
